A refugee women roundtable conversation held by BOMOKO NI.

This discussion will offer asylum seekers women and women of local communities and associations to interact and build bridges of trust, respect and understanding.

This will also allow each other to learn and respect each others culture, and develop new ways of thinking, new knowledge and different experiences.

Written and directed by Patricia Byrne, through development workshops, Samara’s Shop explores the fascinating links between Irish and Arabic culture.

The play explores links in language, culture and experience, allowing for a celebration and acknowledgement of two very similar, but different, human experiences.

Samara’s Shop is a play for the present, the past and the future and the vital link between us all. The play will be performed by Julie-Yara Atz, Karim Hadaya, Baraa Halabieh, Sean Donegan and Cara Park.

‘To The Beat of the Drum’ Podcast 5: Women in Bands Podcast

The 5th and final Podcast for Community Relations Council Good Relations Week sees Julie Porter of the Churchill Flute band take over as host to explore Women in Marching Bands. This podcast looks at female members of bands and what it was like for them to join a male perceived environment and how they enjoy participating in band culture.

In this episode, Julie is joined by guests Jayne Duddy from the Killaloo accordion band, Janice Channing of the Churchill Flute Band and Adele Miller of the Hamilton Flute Band

A Literary Workshop and an Into the Light wall display. The Literary workshop will examine the power of reading in our everyday life through an exploration of the literature read, during the Pandemic, by the group in their Library Reading Room.

The group will choose words that illustrate how reading together has inspired, comforted, supported and enlightened them. The words and inspirational quotes will then be placed inside the sun’s rays of the wall display which will be supported,on either side of the image, by a bridge of books representing their partnership with Libraries NI.

During library hours.

Everybody’s Game: Racism Awareness Evening

Through Fresh Start Through Sport programme, young people are coming together to enjoy an evening of football education and fun. Irish FA Foundation Community Relations Officer, Chris Wright, will deliver their Racism Awareness and Equality module ‘Everybody’s Game’, to participants followed by a coaching/game based pitch session and refreshments.

This event will be held at the Newforge Country Club. 

T:BUC Engagement Forum – Good Relations Across the Atlantic

As part of this large forum, Irish FA Community Relations Officer Chris Wright will offer insight into the hugely successful, good relations programme, Connect.

Highlighting its inception during the pandemic, through online only delivery and into face to face and blended delivery, plus the outcomes such as the ambassador programme.
