Ordinary People Extraordinary Times: Documenting our Pandemic Experience

This event will showcase Ordinary People Extraordinary Times – a project which is part of “Making the Future” – a major culture programme funded by PEACEIV managed by SEUPB.

Ordinary People Extraordinary Times, led by PRONI and the Nerve Centre, was the first major Making the Future programme delivered online at the start of lockdown, which brought people together from different backgrounds to connect with one another and share their stories and experiences. During the three months, 50 participants from across Northern Ireland and border counties shared over 800 items including family heirlooms, letters and photographs.

The event will discuss issues of memory collection, preservation and dissemination as well as the power of online technology and archives increasing a sense of community and belonging in a good relations context.
