Mini Mela Culture Event

Rural Housing Association as part of their Housing for All shared neighbourhood initiative, funded by DfC and the NIHE hosted a socially distanced culture event in Sion Mills.  Residents of Sion Mills, along with Sion Mills Community Association, were treated to on street performances from ArtsEkta, which included; Bollywood dancers, African Drumming and Chinese Lion Dancing, all with the aim of showcasing cultures from around the world and celebrating diversity.

Residents were able to watch the event from their doorsteps, with performers rotating around the village to deliver a cultural event within social distancing guidelines. At a time when social interaction can be limited and with many community activities currently on hold, the event also provided a key opportunity for participants to re-engage with their neighbours whilst participating in an intercultural experience celebrating dance and music from around the globe
