History of the Headstones Tour

Derry City cemetery has been a final resting place since 1853 for both Catholic and Protestant communities. Seamus Breslin and Trevor Temple, the two tour guides are from both religious backgrounds and these tours aim to promote a shared history and community.
Please be aware this tour is not suited for people with mobility issues and remember, please dress for the weather! Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to.

Organiser Bio: Friends of Derry City Cemetery tours provides a unique insight into the history of Derry, dating back to when the cemetery opened in the 19th century right through to the present day. Explore and learn the gravesites from victims of historical events such as Bloody Sunday, the 1981 Hunger Strikes and those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and those of key figures in the history of Derry~Londonderry.
